Contact me to arrange a photo session for your dog

I’m Scott Kotelnicki of Kotelnicki Photo. In 2005 I retired the from the US Army after 24 years of service.  Since my childhood I have been an artist in one way or another,  I was a natural at fitness, and was happiest being in nature.  Today photography is the medium of my artwork.  I am a distance hiker and still love nature.  One of my greatest joys is being out on the trail with my two dogs, Max and Maya.

Portrait-of-meI purchased my first digital camera, a Sony which stored images on an old hard floppy disk. At its highest resolution I got four pictures per disk. With this camera I shot my first official photo shoot; a staff ride to Normandy with the Division Artillery Headquarters. I filled 40 disks and returned with just over 160 photos. After that trip my unit called on me to photograph Change of Commands and other special events. This was the beginning of my career as a photographer.

Now that I have retired, my subject matter is a little closer to home.

Max and Maya were my greatest influence in becoming a pet photographer.  These two semi-willing models allowed me to practice school assignments on them. I practiced lighting, both natural and flash. I loved capturing their movement and expressions.   Soon I was out at the dog park photographing other dogs and found that “Dogs in Nature” became my favorite subject. Today I gear my whole portfolio towards dogs and enjoy what I do.

Life is all about the adventure.
